Archives For special moments

My visit to Cathedral Provincial Park was much more meaningful than I could have ever dreamt it would be. The astonishing beauty of the park was captivating, and it was a personal victory to hike the challenging trails to peaks along the rim.

Celebrate Life!

October 21, 2013

Perspective is so important. Albert Einstein said, “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as if nothing is a miracle. The other is as if everything is a miracle.”

What is your perspective on turning older? How do you feel when your birthday approaches? I have a friend who just recently turned 50 years old. She told me she was so depressed at the thought of turning 50, that she cried all night before her 50th birthday.

Random Acts of Kindness

September 18, 2013

I love hearing about random acts of kindness. My heart sings knowing there are loving, caring, and decent people who go out of their way to help and bring joy to others. There’s so much negativity in the world, and so often, only bad news is reported. It’s a breath of fresh air to hear stories of random acts of kindness, or, better yet, to experience them firsthand for yourself.

Don’t Worry, Be Happy!

July 18, 2013

I won’t break out in song and dance, but there’s a lot behind this simple phrase: Don’t Worry, Be Happy! How many of us spend so much of our waking hours worried about something? How much energy do we expend thinking and being overly concerned about someone?

Turkey is one of my favorite countries that I have traveled to. I enjoyed Turkey so much that my “two week” visit there stretched to almost two months! Turkey is so diverse! I saw so many unbelievable sights and had such spectacular experiences that I could write a book about Turkey itself (but I won’t for now!). When you think about Turkey, you may think of the incredible mosques in Istanbul, the historical ruins of Ephesus, the beautiful beaches of Bodrum, or the magical fairy chimneys in Cappadocia (all of which I will write about in another blog post). However, one of my most memorable experiences was attending a circumcision ceremony.

Living in the Moment

April 25, 2013

Visiting the Tulip Festival yesterday near Agassiz, British Columbia, Canada, reminded me how important it is to take time for yourself and to live in the moment. It’s so easy for us to get wrapped up in our everyday activities. Our lives are so busy that we often forget to pause and appreciate the beauty around us.
