The Power of Gratefulness

March 28, 2013

People often complain about different aspects of their lives, whether it’s about their work, their finances, their health, or their relationships. It can be easy for people to focus on all the things that seem to be going wrong in their lives.

I have learned that the more focus and attention we give to negative thoughts, the more we attract negative situations into our lives. In fact, by simply thinking negative thoughts, or worrying, you are actually fueling and manifesting exactly what you don’t want. It is at the very moment that we shift our thinking to positive thoughts and outcomes, that we begin to attract positive people and positive situations into our lives. In addition, if we focus on being grateful for what we have, instead of what we don’t have, the Universe will provide us with what our hearts desire, and more.

Gratefulness attracts gratefulness.

Practice being grateful everyday. Start by being grateful for even the small things in your life. Be grateful for the beauty of the sunset. Be grateful for the child that makes you smile. Be grateful for your loyal dog who gives you unconditional love. Be grateful for that meal in front of you. Be grateful for being able to stand, to walk, to sit, to see, to hear, to smell,or just to breathe. We all have experiences to be thankful for. We all have people in our lives, in our past and in our present, who have been kind to us or who have inspired us. Be thankful for those people. Be in a constant state of gratefulness and see what happens. With practice, being in a state of gratefulness will come as naturally to you as breathing.

No matter what your situation and even if you can’t see a light at the end of the tunnel, know that there is a light and you are capable of finding it. Have confidence in yourself and know that you can navigate through that tunnel to find the light. Trust in a Higher Power, whether it is God, the Universe, or some other Being, to guide you through that tunnel. You are not alone and can have faith that everything is as it should be.

The greatest life lessons are learned and the greatest transformations occur when you seem to be facing the darkest obstacles in your life. Be grateful for those obstacles.

If you can remain positive and grateful for every situation and still have peace and love in your heart, you will see how much strength you have and others will be inspired by you. Miracles happen when your whole body and soul is bathed in love and gratefulness.

I am grateful that you read my blog today and I hope it has helped you in some way.

    • Thank you for your comment and for reading my post, Marita. Yes, the alignment of our mind, body, and spirit is a powerful combination – and essential to manifest miracles.

  2. Couldn’t agree more. You attract what you think about. If you believe there is shortage, shortages will appear in your life. If you believe in abundance, you will be proved right. My mantra is the belief in Abundance, Health and Joy.

    • Hi Mike. Thank you for reading my post and for your comments. Yes, we all create our own reality and it all starts with our thoughts. That is a terrific mantra you have. Wishing you much Abundance, Health, and Joy.

  3. Having a positive attitude a good thing that is sometimes hard to accomplish. Focusing on being grateful is a very concrete way of striving for the positive. Thank you for this post. I will share it.

    • Hello Mike. Thank you so much for sharing my post. I am so grateful that it resonated with you. Yes, that is very true that by focusing on being grateful, you are already placing your mind and body in a positive state.

  4. mimi,
i always believe that we should never worry, but think only about the situations we have the power to change. if we cannot change something there’s no need to ponder and worry about it since we can’t do anything about it.

    • Hi Annamaria. Yes, worry is something that not only is a waste of energy, but is a negative thought. Negative thoughts turn into beliefs and become reality, so by worrying, you are actually causing that very thought you are worried about to happen. We should always think positively about those situations we have the power to change and then, just do it! Thank you for reading my post.

  5. Hi Mimi
Your post is wonderful and resonates with my belief system. I am moving through some challenging times with my parents who worry constantly. They are only 76 years old but they have stopped living and act like they are 96.They are fearful and anxious all the time about everything. I am finding it very difficult being their caregiver as I am feeling emotionally drained by their neediness. They place unrealistic expectations on my sister and I. I also have a special needs daughter and need to reserve some energy for her! They seem to see things in a negative way and often look on the dark side of things. I try to emphasis all the wonderful positives in their life and they do see it…but it doesn’t take long before the glass becomes half empty again 🙁 They both have had some health issues but they see themselves as being more “unwell” then they really are. I must admit that I am finding it very difficult feeling “grateful” these days (in regards to my parents)…although I am grateful for all the other wonderful blessings in my life like my loving husband, my beautiful children, my lovely home, all of the life sustaining resources I have access to, and much much more!

Honestly, I am feeling quite emotionally depleted at the moment although it is very nice to read uplifting and inspiring messages that help me get through these challenging times. Thanks Mimi!
