Make Every Second Count!

January 9, 2015

The year 2015 started off with some very sad news for me. On Jan 1, 2015, my friend, Mark, who I paddled with on a dragon boat team called the Gift of Life, passed away unexpectedly. The Gift of Life Dragon Boat Team is comprised of individuals who actively promote organ donor registration and transplantation. Many on the team are organ recipients.

I am so saddened by the tragic events which occurred at the Boston Marathon. My heart is heavy wondering how someone can commit such heinous crimes. So senseless! Such disregard for human life. How can so many innocent lives be lost and harmed at an event which is symbolic of perseverance, strength, hope, and inspiration for its participants and spectators?

How do we recover from the images we have seen and cries we have heard? How do we cope with our feelings of anger, sadness, helplessness, fear, and even hate for those who perpetuated these horrific acts of violence?
